At Agrecon I undertook major IT development using Microsoft's ASP.NET web technology. I also managed the access, backup, archive and restoration of the large data sets that Agrecon owned. I also aided in the support of the Agrecon computer network of approximately 100 workstations and servers.

  4. Consultancy (1996 to 2005) — Since 1996 I have owned, operated and managed my own business offering IT services to small and medium size business in Canberra. I mainly worked for Farmwide, ACTTAB and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. My achievements at these organisation included

    • Australian Strategic Policy Institute — I have developed, supported and maintained an inventory management system for the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

    • ACTTAB — At ACTTAB I developed, supported and maintained an accounting application used by the twenty ACTTAB outlets in the ACT. The application was developed to replace existing paper based systems. The main goal of the system was to improve processing time and accuracy. The development process involved consultation with the Retail Operations manager and owners of ACTTAB agents. I provided training and support for all ACTTAB outlets. I also completed smaller projects for ACTTAB as required.

    • Farmwide — At Farmwide I provided technical advice and support to two Internet technology trails in rural Australia. The first trial was dial-up modem based, while the second involved satellite technologies. For the second trail I was involved in the project planning, providing technical advice for installation plans for satellites in rural Australia. Other duties at Farmwide involved administering the local network of 50 workstations and servers, developed parts of Farmwide's website and developed in-house testing applications. I also co-wrote two chapters of the book 'The Farmers Guide to the Internet'.
